Gordon Douglas
Scoutmaster
Gordon's Role
Mr. Douglas currently serves as the Troop 98 Scoutmaster. The Scoutmaster supervises all of the youth activities from meetings and community service projects to camping trips. While all adult members of the troop take part in many of the activities, the Scoutmaster is there to be a guide and mentor to the scouts. Leading by example, instilling confidence in the scouts own abilities and ensuring that outings remain a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
Justin Potts
Assistant Scoutmaster
Justin's Role
Mr. Potts serves as the Troop 98 Assistant Scoutmaster. Like the Scoutmaster, the Assistant Scoutmaster serves as an example of scouting principles for the scouts. The Assistant Scoutmaster provides leadership and supervision to youth activities by demonstrating scouting principles. This can include anything from demonstrating practical scouting skills to new scouts all the way to being an eagle scout project advisor.
Jaime Navaro
Committee Chair
Jaime's Role
Mr. Navaro currently serves as the Troop 98 Committee Chair. He and the other committee members ensure that the troop continues to run from behind the scenes. Everything from reserving camping trip locations to fundraising to scheduling community service projects. The Committee Chair oversees all of the other committee roles and coordinates the efforts of each of the committee members.
Adam Burch
Advancement Chair
Adam's Role
Dr. Burch serves as the Troop 98 Advancement Chair. He keeps track of all scouts achievements during their time with the troop so that each may get the recognition for their hard work. Boy scouts progress through 8 different ranks on their way to scouting’s highest achievement. Each rank has its own unique set of skills and experiences that the scout must master before they can be awarded their next higher rank. While each scout has a book to keep track of each new skill, the troop also uses Scoutbook to allow both youth and adults to view advancement milestones online. www.scoutbook.com
Scouting Experience
Dr. Burch first joined boy scouts as a member of BSA Troop 37 in Owego NY over 20 years ago. He went up through the ranks quickly taking on ever-increasing amounts of leadership responsibility within the Troop. He reached the rank of Eagle Scout in 2002 and stayed on as an adult leader after turning 18. To this day, he continues to volunteer his time to help scouts reach their full potential.

Kara Mason
Troop Treasurer
Kara's Role
Ms. Mason currently serves as the Troop 98 Treasurer. She tracks all troop fundraising efforts, sends camping registration payments and collects troop registration dues. While not all scouting trips are expensive, raising money as a troop takes some of the burdens off of the parents and kids. Each Eagle Scout project must raise its own funds as part of the process and all of these funds must be kept separate from the main troop.
Scouting Experience
Ms. Mason has been involved with scouting for the past 2 years in various leadership roles. She currently has 1 son in Troop 98.
